Some people believe (or are led to believe) that a professionally designed website for their new limited company will be enough to bring traffic and customers to their door. The truth is of course slightly different. A well designed company website is merely the first step to getting traffic and potential customers to your business.
Modern search engines are becoming cleverer as time progresses. They will eventually find your new company website and make it available on their search site. Of course, that does not mean that you will be on the first page of the search engine results, merely because your business exists and you’ve actually gone to the trouble of having a website made. There is much more you can do (and should do) to help boost your search engine ranking and draw in the search traffic.
What Can I Do To Improve My Website?
There are a number of things you can do to improve your website and get your new limited company to the top of the search engine rankings or at least to help it get there.
Search Engine Submission
The first and probably most important of which is search engine submission – this gives the search engines a helping hand, pointing them in the right direction and allowing them to find your website. This does not in itself guarantee a first page listing, but it certainly helps the search engines to find you more quickly. A good search engine submission service (like ours) includes submission to DMOZ – a human-moderated web directory which is highly viewed by all the search engines. DMOZ can take quite a long time to get on but can also have some significant effects on a company’s search engine ranking.
Keyword Research
Taking the time do thoroughly research your industry and the search traffic you should be targeting will allow you to increase the number of visitors to your site. The best place to start is with keyword research. Keywords are simply the main search terms which are relevant to your business. Your limited company will probably have a handful of highly relevant keyword terms which are important to it. They will also be important to your competition. Knowing what they are will allow you to properly target your website (and its content) to make the most of niches in the search traffic. Thereby increasing your search engine ranking and improving your potential sales.
Fresh Content
A company website with content that never changes is not viewed as highly by Google as websites with regularly updated fresh content. Which is why news sites and blogs often have more traffic than standard websites and also why fresh content is so important. If you know what you are doing, you would be well-advised to produce new and fresh content for your website whenever you can.
There are other techniques and methods that you can use to boost the search engine traffic for your company website. As with any other aspect of your business, marketing and promoting it through various techniques will help improve the number of visitors.
